NBA legend Michael Jordan is one of the best players ever. He dominated the game like no other player. Over the course of his illustrious career, Jordan has won 6 NBA championships. He has also won 6 Finals MVP awards and 5 NBA MVP awards. MJ has never lost a Finals series ever. Even when they were down in the dying minutes, his teammates and fans could always count on him. They always knew Michael Jordan would do something spectacular to win the game. His drive to win the game and killer instinct made him a fan favorite.

During his career, he was the face of the NBA and help popularise the game around the world. However, being the most popular athlete on the planet comes with a lot of responsibilities on and off the court. And this certainly adds to the toll of the professional league. In 1992, Michael Jordan gave an interview to ‘Playboy’ magazine.

MJ spoke about a variety of things during the interview. And this was before the 1992 NBA finals between the Chicago Bulls and the Portland Trail Blazers. During the chat, Jordan said that it was not easy being with him.

Jordan said that others don’t need to deal with what he had to as a superstar of the league. He said, “People say they wish they were Michael Jordan. OK, do it for a year. Do it for two years. Do it for five years. When you get past the fun part, then go do the part where you get into cities at three a.m. and you have fifteen people waiting for autographs when you?re as tired as hell. Your knees are sore, back?s sore, your body?s sore, and yet you have to sign fifteen autographs at three in the morning.”

The interviewer then asked what would happen if the Bulls legend denied signing autographs. Jordan replied that people would take a shot at him if he didn’t. It is definitely not easy being the most popular athlete ever. The superstars would have their private space invaded. A little more than a year later to this interview, Jordan shocked the world with his retirement announcement.

At the time, MJ said that he had no desire to play the game of basketball he loved so much. He later revealed that his father’s murder also played a part in his decision. Michael Jordan then signed a minor league baseball contract with the Chicago White Sox.

However, he would later return to the NBA after a year. He then went on to win 3 straight titles with the Bulls from 1996 to 1998 before announcing his second retirement.
