The three-time Slam Dunk Contest champion publicly announced recently that he had been going through treatment for renal kidney failure for the last four years. Upon hearing the news, fans reminded him of his fighting spirit, with one fan saying: “Keep fighting, you got heart!”

Robinson added that the motive behind sharing his medical condition now was to be a prominent voice in a climate of stigma.

In his statement, Robinson said that he always preferred to lead by example. But circumstances have compelled him to be a voice for change. He wanted to help other people who are dealing with a similar situation due to the disease.

Additionally, Nate Robinson has also expressed gratitude for the support he has received till date.

Another former NBA player, Dikembe Mutombo also announced recently that he was undergoing treatment for a brain tumor. Fans from all around were in dismay as another player also came forward with his medical condition.

Robinson played for many teams in the NBA and entertained fans with his presence on the court. Robinson certainly had the skills to showcase on the hardwood, and he was a great scorer too. The NBA veteran worked on his body and agility throughout his career to make up for his height, making up for it with his strength.

Renal kidney failure is described to be when one or both of one’s kidneys cease to function. It is considered to be a critical stage in the hierarchy of kidney diseases. It affects over 750,000 people in the United States alone, and possibly over 2 million people globally.
