As per the report, Kevin and Curry had serious issues regarding their $20 million a year partnership. The UA’s chief executive was unhappy about Curry not wearing the brand’s clothing to the games. Meanwhile, the Golden State point guard was dissatisfied with the sales of his Curry 3 shoes.
The UA management offered Curry a personalized business brand and more power in product decisions. Eventually, Steph agreed to continue the partnership and also helped the brand sign a shoe deal with Philadelphia 76ers‘ Joel Embiid.
Fortunately, Steph did not go ahead with the decision and remained in business with UA. The 2022 Finals MVP’s current net worth is around 160 million. He is currently in fifth place on the world’s richest athletes list. The 34-year-old made his NBA debut with the Golden State Warriors in 2009. Curry has earned over $250 million from his NBA contracts in his 13-season long career so far.
Moreover, the two-time MVP is set to sign a four-year contract with the Warriors this season, which will bring him an estimated $215 million. Thus, if the lifetime contract deal with Under Armour goes through, Curry will become the third overall and second-active billionaire in the NBA.
