Talking about the NBA Draft, for months the speculation has been that the Detroit Pistons, who won this year’s draft lottery, will go for Cade Cunningham with the No.1 overall pick. But the world of NBA is a mysterious place and the only thing that’s constant is change. Other than Cunningham, Detroit has shown keen interest in another draft prospect, Jalen Green. And it seems like Green would want nothing more than for this to happen.

Jalen Green wants to be picked over Cade Cunningham

Over the past many years, the Detroit Pistons have hardly won 20-25 games in the season. But things might be turning around for them, now that they get the top pick from the 2021 NBA Draft. While Cunningham looked like the obvious choice, given his skill as the point guard and his size and that he makes everyone around him better.

So, in an interview with Green on SiriusXM NBA Radio, he was asked if he was confident about being picked No. 1. He stated, “Yeah, I hope so. That would be great. I dreamed about being the number one pick. I think I did a good job at the workout, that would hopefully change their mind.”

Jalen also thinks that picking Cade over him would be a bad choice on the Pistons’ part. “Yeah, because then they’re going to have to play me that year, so yeah I think it would be a mistake,” Green spoke blatantly.

Green has been turning heads with his athleticism ever since he has been playing for the G-League. His ability to get past his opponents and then get to the rim quickly will surely help him clock in more minutes with any team that chooses him. And to be able to impact the game on or off the ball also makes him the best choice.

This also means that he can do a bit of everything on the court. He is most likely to be the shooting guard for the Pistons and his shots from the arc is an aspect of him that has won the hearts of many scouts. However, his only downfall is his turnovers, but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed. Even his defense needs some polishing but he doesn’t have major flaws.
