One of the standout players of last season was the Memphis Grizzlies star, Ja Morant. Ja took a massive leap from his first two years and led the Grizzlies to the second seed in the West. But after getting his rookie extension for $231 Million, Morant thanked his peers, Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, and CJ McCollum for paving the way for him.
Morant was spectacular last season, earning his first all-star appearance and an All-NBA second-team selection. Morant was also named the Most Improved Player this year, and he was in the conversation for the league MVP award all season long.

And rightfully so, the Memphis Grizzlies rewarded Morant with a five-year extension where he is guaranteed $193 million, with a potential to rise up to $231 million.
Morant thanks Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, and CJ McCollum
After an impressive season and earning his extension, Morant has been talking about Grizzlies’ chances for the next season. There may be a potential rivalry in play between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors. And the NBA has set a date for their matchup as well. Morant and Draymond Green have gone back and forth over the summer and the fans can’t wait for both teams to match up.
However, the 23-year-old hooper went on The Pivot Podcast to talk about last season. He also gave his props to Dame, CJ, and Curry. Morant explained during the podcast,” I always said Dame, CJ, and Steph pretty much paved the way for guys like me, and then it was me. You still see other guys coming along from mid-major or underrecruited, coming out and proving themselves”
Lilliard, Curry, and McCollum were not heavily sought after in their particular drafts. They did not go to major college powerhouses and were not the best players in that year’s draft. Not a lot of people would have thought that they would be where they are right now. And Morant followed a similar path like these three stars.

Morant’s stock has risen massively over the last year or so. He showed that he is one of the prime point guards in the league. And his team has proven to be a contender for next season as well.
