The former teammate of Kobe Bryant, Nick Young, is ready to make his boxing debut. Now, he has to take some inspiration from “The Black Mamba” as he faces rapper Blueface. Celebrity boxing has become a lucrative business since Internet creator Logan Paul dipped into it. The organizers of this event also saw the potential of doing such an event with celebrities such as Blueface and Young.

‘Swaggy P’ was never a big star in the NBA but can carve up a second career in boxing if he succeeds. Young himself shared promotional materials for the event that will go down at the newly named Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The photo of those materials read, “No More Talk”.

Young himself shared some of those promotional materials on his social media handles. His caption read, “It’s Official!!! Battle OF LA it’s going down!!! The super Crip Vs Sr SWAGGY.”

This fight is a part of the Social Gloves event which includes YouTubers like Austin McBroom and AnEsonGib. Blueface has more experience as he has fought other celebrities before. This is Young’s first time in the combat business, but he is very keen to face the likes of “Logan Paul, Gilbert Arenas, and Chad Ochocinco.”

He is not the first ex-NBA star to wear the gloves. Deron Williams and Nate Robinson have already entered the squared circle. Williams won his fight against former NFL running back Frank Gore while Robinson lost his to YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul.

Kobe Bryant’s anger once led to Nick Young taking his shoes off

Nick Young has often repeated this story in every podcast, but there was once a time when Kobe Bryant told Nick Young and his other teammates to take their shoes off due to bad performances on the court.

We were getting blew out in Portland. Kobe is in the locker room, just waiting for everybody to come in. You know everybody in there got ‘Kobe’s’ on the team. He come in and says ‘Y’all playing soft. How you gonna wear these shoes and y’all soft? This ain’t what we do here in LA,” says the former Laker.

According to Young, Kobe told them to take their shoes off and he proceeded to throw them in the trash. Young recalled him saying, “‘Y’all don’t deserve these. Until y’all get it right, y’all can’t wear no Kobe’s’.” Young would look to bring some of that attitude inside the ring against Blueface.
