During their playing careers, Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley were not only top players, but they were also very close friends. They often spent time off the court, and playing golf was one of their favorite pastimes. But the fans know how competitive Jordan could get when it comes to golf and anything else.?

In the newest episode of ?Dan Patrick Show?, ?NBA on TNT? host Ernie Johnson made an appearance. During their discussion, Ernie shared how Shaq?s last line of defense to any argument with Chuck was Shaq?s NBA titles. Ernie said that whenever there is an argument about anything, Shaq shows points to fingers to remind him about the titles to show he is right because he has won multiple titles.

Hearing this, Patrick shared a similar incident where he witnessed Michael Jordan silencing Barkley with a scathing response. To make things worse for Charles, it happened in the presence of several legends during a golf tournament.

Michael Jordan silences Barkley

Dan Patrick said, ?I was at the Jimmy Valvano golf tournament many, many years ago. And I am at a table with Digger Phelps, Quinn Buckner, Lou Holtz, Barkley, and Michael Jordan. And Chuck is going back at Michael a little bit. And then all of a sudden the competitor in Jordan kicked in and then he started going for the knees. He wanted to take out Chuck in front of us because Chuck was getting all these laughs. And then Michael said, ?You never won a championship, did you?? And then all of a sudden it stopped.?

But Patrick admitted it wasn?t fun anymore after Jordan?s rude response to Charles. He said that it looked like one can always win an argument with the other person who hasn?t won a championship. It must have been hard for Barkley to be silenced in front of all the legends at the table.

Ernie said that to Barkley?s credit, he has lived with that forever even though it was brought up now and then. And said that Charles never minds answering the no championship question. Ernie also hilariously said that he didn?t use that argument unless Barkley really makes him mad.?

Even though Barkley didn?t win a championship during his career, he was a superstar. He went toe-to-toe with Michael Jordan and other NBA greats. While he looks soft and funny now, he wasn?t someone to be messed with during his playing years.
