LeBron James is on a scoring mission this season. Despite all the struggles of the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron has had an MVP-level season. Without him, the Lakers would have been a lottery team. And what’s surprising about LeBron this season is that he’s not leading the league in assists or rebounds, but he’s been the best scorer this season.

LeBron is leading the league for only the second time in his career and it seems like he will finish as the scoring leader for the season. He has had the most 30 points games, and he has had two 50 point games as well. He is the oldest player in the NBA history to lead the league in scoring, surpassing the previous record held by Michael Jordan and Stephen Curry, who both did it at 33.

LeBron James leads the league at scoring at the age of 37

LeBron James continues to defy father time and redefine what a star is capable of at the back end of his career. Back in 2020, when the Lakers got Anthony Davis, he took a back seat to allow Davis to settle in. That season LeBron led the league in assists. Bron is typically considered a pass-first player who gets the best out of his teammates. He often puts them in positions to succeed on the offensive end by dishing out dimes.

But this year, he seems to have taken scoring as the primary objective. His assists numbers are down a little bit, but that is likely due to the Lakers being one of the worst offensive teams in the league and AD missing more than half a season due to injury. Bron has been the driving force for the offense of the Lakers, and at times, it looks like only he can score.

LeBron doesn’t seem to have lost a step athletically, and he’s shooting the most threes of his career. And he makes it look so easy and he catches fire so casually. If the Lakers have any chance of going deep in the playoffs, he will have to continue his scoring streak. ‘King James’ might even have to take it up a notch.
