Coming into the season, the NBA world wasn’t expecting the defending champions to have the year they are having. Needless to say, an underwhelming record (20-18) and the ninth place in the Western Conference have embroiled the Golden State Warriors in trade rumors. Similarly, one of Stephen Curry’s Dubs teammates has been the subject of a possible trade report that could shift the fortunes of all the parties involved.

Incidentally, a Western Conference Executive recently harped on the likelihood of Klay Thompson ending up in Hollywood. Unsurprisingly, a social media storm ensued with photoshopped images of the 4x NBA champion’s link-up with LeBron James going viral.

Klay Thompson could consider joining the Los Angeles Lakers, per sources

Amid a struggling season, with the NBA trade deadline approaching (February 9th, 2023), the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers have become the faces of the trading market. Moreover, many NBA insiders have reported on possible trades between the two teams. One such trade that has picked up steam in the past few days is Klay Thompson’s move to the Lakers after this season. However, an NBA executive added more fuel to the fire recently when he commented on the likelihood of the move.

When talking to Sean Deveny of Heavy.com, the Western Conference executive addressed Thompson’s chances of leaving the Warriors for the Lakers,?”He could consider it, You know, he grew up with his dad as a player, mostly for the Lakers, so they’re a team he could look to leave for.”?

Klay Thompson’s father, Mychel Thompson, played with the Lakers during the showtime era and won two championships alongside Magic Johnson. Moreover, according to reports that resurfaced in 2019, the 5x All-star wanted to listen to an offer from the Lakers if the Warriors didn’t offer him a max extension. However, the Warriors extended him with a five-year $189 million contract after that. Meanwhile, Thompson will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2023-24 season.

With the tightening salary cap of the Warriors, who are already paying an estimated $372 million in luxury tax this season, Thompson, alongside veteran teammate Draymond Green, have emerged as a favorites to dominate the trading market this season.
