NBA legend Kobe Bryant is argued as the best Laker player of all time. The way he shot the ball, his ability to take over the game, and most importantly, his work ethic. His work ethic was something that is almost incomparable to any other player in the league. Kobe always used to put in the work for his game. And the results were present for all to see.

The five-time NBA champion played 20 seasons for the Los Angeles Lakers. He won one MVP award, two finals MVPs, and was an 18-time all-star. But one of the things we hear from a lot of players is how Kobe helped them develop their game.

Another one for Kobe Bryant

One of those players is the Chicago Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan. Kobe was always very meticulous about his footwork. Being a shooting guard, Kobe was an excellent player in the post. His fadeaways were undoubtedly one of the best in the league.

On the podcast, ‘The Old Man & the Three’ DeRozan spoke about how Kobe helped him improve his game. While talking to Tommy Alter and ex-NBA player J. J. Redick, he mentioned Kobe helped him a lot with his game. In particular, his footwork.

DeRozan went on to say, ‘80% of that came from him,’ while addressing Kobe. DeMar also added, ‘he was one of the first ones to maybe start paying attention to f*#kin soccer.’ He admitted that from the footwork aspect, he got the majority of that from Kobe.

‘The Black Mamba’ was as lethal as it can get. He was absolutely fearless on the court. A deadeye shooter, a great ball handler, and a fierce finisher around the rim. Kobe never backed out from a challenge. He was widely known to push his game to the limits and perform at the highest level possible.

And the advice Kobe gave DeRozan can now be seen in his game. DeRozan came into the league as a high-flying dunker. He was on the highlights, pestering opponents on a nightly basis while he was playing for the Toronto Raptors. But his game soon developed to being a knockdown mid-range shooter in his years with the San Antonio Spurs

DeRozan can definitely still throw down monster jams but now has more than just dunks in his repertoire. He is a five-time all-star in his 13 years in the league. D had an excellent 2021-2022 season. He had his highest point average this last season, and finished the season with 27.9 PPG, 5.2 RPG, and 4.9 APG.
