Anthony Davis is one of the most talented power forwards the league has seen. An elite big man with the mobility of a guard, Davis is deceptively quick for his size. Davis will become a 10-year veteran in the NBA next season and has done a lot throughout his career. He’s been a multiple-time All-Star, a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year, and an NBA champion. But who did he use as inspiration for his style of play?

AD based his game around KG

Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis did an AMA on Reddit. One user asked Davis which NBA star he modeled his game around. Davis noted that an inspiration for him was Kevin Garnett. KG was a great player on both ends of the court, something that appealed to Anthony Davis. Davis lamented that he didn’t get to play Garnett at his best during his time in the league, but lauded his excellent ability to play the game.

Garnett was an excellent player for AD to base his game around. Much like Davis, Garnett was an excellent power forward during his time in the NBA. Garnett played excellent basketball on both ends of the court, showing his excellent versatility and hustle. He was also a perennial All-Star and won a league MVP and an NBA championship. Aside from an MVP, Davis has achieved the same. However, Davis is still young, and he can achieve the same, if not more.
