The Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade has been a bright example of a supportive father in recent times. He stood as a pillar of strength for his daughter Zaya Wade, after she came out as a girl a while back. Similarly, he has constantly encouraged his eldest son, Zaire Wade, on his quest to basketball glory. Wade recently shouted out his 21-year-old son with a tribute video, a month after his powerful message to the public.

Wade’s son is all set to play for the Cape Town Tigers in the Basketball Africa League (BAL). He signed for the league, days before his 21st birthday. The rising star suffered a season-ending knee injury and got waived from the NBA G-League.

After the injury, Wade encouraged his son to explore various opportunities across the globe. That’s what prompted him to land in Africa. Previously, in an interview, Zaire had appreciated his dad for giving him the freedom to make decisions on his own.

The NAACP recognized Wade’s constant efforts to support his daughter through her journey of finding her identity. Moreover, he impressed the crowd with a powerful acceptance speech. The 2006 Finals MVP said that he had learned a lesson from Zaya-that a message is not only delivered through words but also through eyes and ears.

He further added, “As your father, my job is not to create a version of myself or direct your future. My role is to be a facilitator to your hopes, your wishes, and your dreams.”
