“About Time They Lose a Damn Game”: NBA Twitter Rejoices as Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Bucks Handed First Loss of the Season

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 25-point game was in vain as the Atlanta Hawks defeated the Milwaukee Bucks. With this victory, the Hawks successfully rained on the ‘Bucks’ 9-game win streak parade. The result of the game left NBA Twitter in seventh heaven. 

With a final score of 117-98, the Hawks outscored the Bucks in 3 out of the 4 quarters. Despite the absence of Hawks star Trae Young, the Hawks shot 46.6% from the field. Hawks’ DeJounte Murray was the star of their offense with 25 points, and 11 assists while Hawks rookie AJ Griffin chipped in with 24 points in 31 minutes off the bench. NBA twitter had no filter while they celebrated this game.

Twitter rejoices as the Milwaukee Bucks lose their 1st game

Following this defeat, a major chunk of the NBA Twitter was quick to express their happiness. Fans sighed in relief with tweets that said, “About time they lose a damn game.” While some fans claimed that no one is scared of the Milwaukee Bucks, others stated the NBA was back to being good again and suggested that the Bucks need to rebuild their team. 

Giannis Antetokounmpo gets the bench hyped-up

Despite the defeat, Giannis Antetokounmpo had another memorable play in the game. In the 3rd quarter, with an assist from Jrue Holiday, Antetokounmpo executed a poster dunk on Hawks’ John Collins. The Bucks bench went crazy after the dunk as the Atlanta crowd gasped. Jrue Holiday‘s 16 points and 7 assists aided Antetokounmpo’s efforts but it didn’t prove to be enough for the Bucks.

Despite the Bucks’ efforts, the Hawks managed to grab an edge over them with an all-around team performance. Hawks’ DeJounte Murray spoke to the media post-game and said, Basketball is a game of runs, and like I kept telling the group, ‘They made their run’ and were making a bunch of 3s — it wasn’t going to be like that all night.”

The Bucks however needn’t panic for they still sit atop the Eastern Conference standings with 9 wins. With the hope to get back to winning ways, the Bucks play against the Oklahoma City Thunder next. On the other hand, the Atlanta Hawks hope to maintain this winning momentum when they host the in-form Utah Jazz
