An update on Zion Williamson has further pushed down fans’ excitement of seeing him again. The update came from Brian Windhorst of ESPN. Windhorst said, “We know that people aren’t on the same page. We know Zion spent last summer away from the team. After he had this injury he was away from the team.”

“When his rehab this year had a setback, he went away from the team. He hasn’t been around the team in six weeks,” the NBA insider added.

Windhorst further added that Williamson is ‘not close’ to returning to the scene, “I think his setback was significant“. Going by the update, Williamson might not be close to returning anytime soon. This may cause even more problems for the Pelicans who are placed 10th on the Western Conference rankings. The team has only managed to win 3 of their last 10 games and is on a 2 game-losing streak.

Williamson’s career injuries

The Pelicans star has had his fair share of upsets due to injury throughout his career. A bruised knee forced him to stay away from the rest of his summer league debut. His NBA debut was pushed because of an injury he picked up during a preseason game. The 22-year-old missed the first 4 months of the regular season due to this injury.

The Pelicans would want nothing more than to get their star player back on the court. As distant as it seems at the moment, it still is one of the few hopes for the New Orleans team.
