A lot of relationships that don’t work out end up like this, from lovers to enemies. Those are the events that occurred between Siohvaughn Funches and Dwyane Wade. Their love story began as teenagers and ended years later.

Wade and Funches got married one year before Wade declared for the NBA draft in 2003. And they started their happy journey together afterward. In the end, nobody had expected this to happen, but it didn’t last long. They have two gorgeous children together, Zaire and Zaya.

They decided to end their relationship back in 2007 and part ways. Throughout this, the couple had to go through a long and hectic divorce.

The end result was Wade obtaining full custody of his two children. Wade also got married to his then-girlfriend Gabrielle Union in 2014 after they moved on from their past relationships. Both the couple supported their transgender daughter Zaya in 2020.

After accusing Gabrielle Union of “stealing” her ex-husband Dwyane Wade, Siohvaughn Funches filed a $50,000 lawsuit against Union. Funches accused Union caused her two children emotional distress. The drama settled in 2012 and Funches received a strong response from Union.

Union said, “The biggest lesson [I learned] is that when there are children involved who can’t speak for themselves, no matter how tempted you are to just tell someone else’s truth… you just have to shut your mouth and make sure that they are protected at all times — even if you sacrifice yourself. People will still believe what they want.”

Recently, Wade’s ex-wife charged him with profiting from the gender identity of her daughter Zaya after two years. It all happened when Wade signed a petition to change the gender and name of their child. After this allegation, Wade took to social media and fired back at his ex-wife. He even stated the actions of his ex-wife do not surprise him and his family.
