Shaquille O’Neal, commonly called Shaq, has achieved so much in his career. The LA Lakers legend made a name for himself by dominating his opponents in the NBA. ‘The Diesel’ used his size to his advantage and was nearly unstoppable close to the rim. He won four NBA championships along with accolades and became one of the biggest superstars of the game. 

From being one of the best players on the court to helping others outside the NBA, he has made headlines for his activities both on and off the court.

O’Neal once spent a million dollars on his mother without telling her. We all know what Shaq has been through during his childhood. While his parents didn’t have stable financial support, he made sure that after his NBA career started; he did everything he could to support them. 

During the 1992 NBA draft, Shaq got into the league. The Orlando Magic selected him 1st overall. He has made a great name for himself on the court due to his basketball skills and talent. During his time as a competitive athlete, he has radically changed the field’s dynamics.

Shaquille O’Neal gifted his parents a house worth a million dollars

Through his skills, he attracted a lot of attention at the beginning of his career. In his prime years, he made a lot of headlines with brands coming on. Because of the fame and money that came with that, Shaq made sure to provide everything for his family. In an interview with Brain J. Roberts, he shared a story about how he bought a house for his mother for a million dollars.

According to him: “And I actually broke a rule cause they always told me, hey, look at contracts before you sign them. I said, ma just sign your name, so she was signing away, and then when I got the keys, the realtors left, I was like, here you go. She’s like, what’s this?”

He continued: “I said, this not my house, it’s your house. So I now I know I had more money coming in. So these were what I call affordable mistakes.”
