Because of the fame and money that came with that, Shaq made sure to provide everything for his family. In an interview with Brain J. Roberts, he shared a story about how he bought a house for his mother for a million dollars.

According to him: “And I actually broke a rule cause they always told me, hey, look at contracts before you sign them. I said, ma just sign your name, so she was signing away, and then when I got the keys, the realtors left, I was like, here you go. She’s like, what’s this?”

He continued: “I said, this not my house, it’s your house. So I now I know I had more money coming in. So these were what I call affordable mistakes.”
