Kevin Durant created panic around the league when he handed in his trade request from the Brooklyn Nets this off-season. After a season full of sorrow, the Slim Reaper lost hope in Brooklyn. While teams are trying to desperately conjure the perfect offer, the Boston Celtics went big from the get-go. They offered franchise star Jaylen Brown and more. However, the Nets still wanted more. Recently, an NBA analyst gave the Nets some light on a potential counter-offer.

When KD made his request, the focus was on two teams, the Phoenix Suns and the Miami Heat. Both are reportedly Durant’s top destinations. However, after a failed attempt by the Suns, Boston decided to test their luck. After humiliating the four-time scoring champ in the playoffs, the Celtics went big by offering their cornerstone. But the Nets are not interested to settle.

Looking to fight the long battle, the Brooklyn Nets understandably want all that they can get. And Chris Broussard believes they should go big with the Celtics.

What the Nets can demand for Kevin Durant

However, the Nets didn’t give even give it a thought. They rejected the offer and countered by wanting Marcus Smart to be added to the mix. Many may say the Nets are asking for too much. But Broussard’s offer would say otherwise.

It’s evident that Boston wants Kevin Durant. A pairing with Jayson Tatum would likely make them one of the best duos in the league. However, Smart and Williams both were critical to the Celtics’ Finals berth last season. Notably, Smart was the first guard since Gary Payton to be the DPOY. Without such players around, a Durant trade would arguably become meaningless.
