Kevin Durant is one of the most talked about players in the NBA. The Slim Reaper’s resume is stacked with a league MVP and multiple Finals MVPs. However, his championship days only came during his dream run with the Golden State Warriors. Since moving on from the Bay area, even a superteam hasn’t helped him capture the Larry O’Brien trophy again. Likewise, his failure to produce has made some legends of the game question his legacy. And now, Shaquille O’Neal has joined the list.
Charles Barkley took the first shot at the four-time scoring champion. The two have had a prior history of jousting at one another. However, Barkley ripped into KD’s career. Calling him ‘Mr. Miserable’, the NBA Hall of Famer said the Brooklyn Nets forward piggybacked his way to two championships with the Warriors. As the leader and soul of a franchise, KD has failed to deliver similar results with the Nets so far.
Now, it seems even Shaquille O’Neal sees nothing wrong with Charles Barkley’s breakdown of Durant’s NBA career. During an episode of his podcast, the Big Diesel stood by his TNT mate.

Shaquille O’Neal agrees with the Kevin Durant criticism
Shaq and Barkley may not gel on certain topics, but they met right on the same track concerning Kevin Durant. The four-time NBA champion broke down his fellow analyst’s take and put focus on Durant being the man on the team. Notably, Shaq used Oklahoma City Thunder’s jaw-dropping loss to the Warriors in 2016. Durant and Russell Westbrook were merely one step away from getting to the NBA Finals. However, Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors pulled off a comeback for the ages.

There is arguably no doubt about Kevin Durant’s greatness on the NBA court. A plethora of accolades defines him as one of the all-time greats. However, one thing is clear, his run with the Warriors often gets in the way. Playing in the company of All-Stars, legends like Barkley and Shaq aren’t as impressed. To earn their nod, Durant needs to prove his worth as a franchise cornerstone.
While history can’t be changed, the future stays in his hands. After months of drama, Kevin Durant has his visions set on a future in Brooklyn. With a roster arguably skilled enough to make it all the way, the Slim Reaper has the right pieces. With Kyrie Irving opting in for a final season, this duo is certainly enough to instill fear in their opponents.
