The 2023 NBA playoffs have started off in an exciting fashion. Who would have thought, that the Sacramento Kings defeating the Golden State Warriors in consecutive games of a playoff series will not be the highlight of the night? An infamous incident in the game involving Draymond Green and Domantas Sabonis partially overshadowed the Kings’ historic playoff performance. So much so that even NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal couldn’t resist getting involved in its aftermath.

The Sacramento Kings are almost on the verge of kicking out the Warriors in the first round of the playoffs after beating them in game 2. During the game, many Dubs fans felt that someone had to take charge of the game to prevent continuous losses on the road, which their star player, Draymond Green eventually did. However, not in a way that they would have expected.

Shaquille O’Neal trolls Draymond Green after troubling incident on the court

In the fourth quarter of the game between the Kings and the Warriors, Domantas Sabonis fell down while fighting for a loose ball. While on the floor, his arms got caught up with Draymond Green’s ankles. In an attempt to free himself, Green appeared to stomp on the chest of the Kings star on his way to the back court.

Subsequently, Sabonis was given a technical foul, while Green was ejected from the game with a Flagrant 2 foul. Following Green’s ejection, the Twitterverse blew up with everyone discussing the unprecedented scenes on the court in Sacramento. Among the many, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal also decided to give his two cents on the incident. According to Melissa Rohlin from Fox Sports, “Shaquille O’Neal said he doesn’t want to be a hypocrite and he would’ve done the same thing Draymond Green did if someone grabbed his leg.”

If one thought that the statement from Shaq was all the NBA fandom would have from him on the incident, they should think again. In the most Shaq way possible, the Big Man wholeheartedly joined in on the hilarious trolling of Green following the ‘stomp’. In his recent Instagram story, Shaq posted a humorous reel of Draymond Green’s avatar fighting Sabonis as a WWE superstar in the WWE 2K game.

Judging by his social media activity, it seems like the Big Man probably found humor in Green’s reactions during the game, even though he might not condone his actions. Nevertheless, the Warriors’ no. 23 rubbed salt into his team’s wounds, who are on the verge of facing a big disappointment in their season.
