NBA all-time great Michael Jordan has three children with his ex-wife Juanita Vanoy. Two sons, Jeffrey and Marcus, and a daughter, Jasmine Jordan. Both Jeffrey and Marcus followed in the path of their father as basketball players. They picked the game up at an early age and put in great effort to be better every day. But they were not blessed with the same physical attributes and on-court prowess as their father. Also, they had an enormous amount of pressure as the children of one of the greatest players ever.

Despite this, they both played college basketball. The youngest son, Marcus Jordan joined the University of Central Florida after his high school career. The school recruited him and he joined them after a visit. However, he wanted to clarify one thing before joining. At the time, the school had a $3 million contract with Adidas. As the son of ‘Air Jordan’ himself Marcus wanted to wear Jordans.

The school management accepted his request, and he joined them. Before the season, during a pre-season exhibition game, Marcus came out wearing Jordans but the Adidas officials were not impressed. Soon Adidas terminated their sponsorship costing the school $3 million in sponsorship money.

Son of Michael Jordan wearing Adidas makes little sense

Even when he chose to wear the Jordans for the exhibition game, he wanted something with the Adidas logo on his foot. Thinking it might make Adidas not take any serious decisions. So he reached out to Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose. Rose and Marcus both played high school basketball in Chicago, Illinois, and were good friends.

“I called Derrick Rose?we were good friends at the time, and this was right around the time he was wearing those adidas ankle braces. It was becoming popular to wear the ankle braces he was wearing, so I went through him to get a pair. I wore those so that way anytime someone would take a picture of my footwear they would still see an adidas logo,” Marcus said.

The school wanted to honor their promise to Marcus and allowed him to wear the Jordans. Despite Rose’s help, Adidas decided to drop the school. However, Nike wanted to use this opportunity to sweep the school and signed a sponsorship deal.

Marcus played three years for UCF and averaged 12.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game in 94 games. In 2016, he opened up a?sneaker store named the “Trophy Room” in Orlando, Florida.
