During his time in the NBA, Michael Jordan developed a lot of rivalries over the years with multiple players. He was also the reason why many NBA franchises and legends retired without winning a championship. And one of his most sought-after rivalries was with Isiah Thomas and the ‘Bad Boy Pistons.’ The two-time NBA champion didn’t hold back on former Washington Wizards All-Star on Twitter.

In the 80s and 90s era of basketball, the game was much more physical than it is today. The Detroit Pistons earned the nickname ‘Bad Boys’ due to their overly physical type of basketball. While they won back-to-back championships, the Pistons were despised by most of their rivals and the NBA community in general.

The Pistons and the Chicago Bulls battled it out numerous times on the floor, leading to somewhat of a rivalry in the Eastern Conference during the late 80s and early 90s. That was until Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls knocked Isiah Thomas and the Pistons off the pedestal.

But before Michael Jordan and the Bulls took over, Isaiah Thomas and the Detroit Pistons had done it all. Thomas and the Pistons did beat some of the biggest names in the league back in the day.

Recently, the three-time All-Star Gilbert Arenas sat down for an episode for his podcast, ‘Gil’s Arena.’ And one of the topics that was touched upon was the ‘Bad Boy Pistons’ playing against Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

While on the show, Arenas said, “You had a two-year window, you had an advantage over everyone in those two years. No one knows the Detroit Pistons were the first team to have their own private plane.”

“So, the two years that they actually won, the year they got a private plane, that summer, they won a championship. So, what ends up happening is that they have way more rest than everybody else because everybody else was on commercial,” added Arenas.

Isiah Thomas snaps back

Isiah Thomas was one of the very few players who can say that he took on some of the biggest names in the league back then and won. Thomas went up against Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Michael Jordan and beat them all.

So, when Arenas started ranting, Thomas wasn’t having any of it. He tweeted, “My brother Gilbert Arenas with all due respect we @DetroitPistons and I played against and beat Magic, Kareem, Bird, and Jordan.”

“We also made it possible for you and the rest of your brothers to now travel on private planes and stay in 5 star hotels. Let it be known,” added Thomas.

Now, let’s see if the former Wizards All-Star chooses to give a reply to the Pistons legend.
