After Fighting With Charles Barkley for Over a Decade on Live TV, Shaquille O’Neal Proves His Friendship by Ripping Apart Kevin Durant’s Response

Shaquille O’Neal takes up the mic on ‘The Big Podcast’ and defends friend Charles Barkley. Kevin Durant and Barkley were going at each other on social media. According to Chuck, Kevin Durant did not win his championships the hard way. Chuck defends the way old-school basketball was played with competitiveness.

Durant joined the Golden State Warriors and helped them win two championships. Subsequently, Durant was named the Finals MVP on both outings. Moreover, NBA media and Hall of Famer, Barkley disregard Durants championships because he joined a 73-9 team. The Warriors had defeated Durant the year prior to him joining forces with them.

This was considered a weak move on his part. Golden State won in 2015 and in 2022 without KD. According to Barkley, for Durant to get his due, he has to win as the primary force of the team.

Barkley was feuding with Durant and disputing over the validity of his championships to his legacy. He said that KD didn’t win the title as the ‘bus driver’. 

Durant was not pleased with Barkley’s remarks and clapped back with a few words of his own. Moreover, he is upset with people for not seeing his contribution to the Warrior dynasty. KD also responded to O’Neal’s comments on Instagram, saying Chuck doesn’t need Shaq as a bodyguard.

KD feels he was a part of everything the Warriors achieved and should be credited not scrutinized. Durant said that the older generation cannot accept that NBA has expanded and become more lucrative.

Shaquille O’Neal on The big podcast said that back in the day teaming up was not an option. Everyone was competing with each other. Furthermore, Shaq defended Chuck on his opinion and the ‘old head’ way of basketball. Shaq said, “…How many times did Michael lose to Isiah before they finally got it done? …So, back in our day, you had to compete to get that respect. Now the way Mr.KD did it… They lose to a team, then he joins that team that beat him. Then he wins 2 championships. Now he made it easier…”

According to Shaq, Steph was the focus of opponents in the NBA finals. However, Shaq feels neither KD nor Steph has anything to prove to anyone. And their legacy is secured.

But you have to give it up for Shaq for sticking with his friend even after all these years of arguments.

While a lot of people are standing with Chuck on this, C.J McCollum weighed in on the debate and took Durant’s side.

Brian Windhorst also shared his views on the debate. Brian’s opinions on Durant’s championships are similar to McCollum’s in the sense that Durant was driving the ‘bus’ on the warrior’s team.
