After Kobe Bryant Copy Accusations, Fans Try to Cancel $231 Million NBA All Star Over Flamboyant Accessories: “No One Likes Ja Anymore”

The $231 million worth rising NBA sensation Ja Morant has once again captured the attention of fans. However, this time, it’s not solely due to his remarkable basketball skills on the hardwood. Fans are currently discussing the comparison drawn between Morant and NBA legend Kobe Bryant for a very specific reason. Although some talking heads may have made this comparison based on Morant’s exceptional abilities on the court, fans are more focused on recent developments surrounding the player and his new extravagant venture.

On February 17th, Icebox shared a post showcasing Ja Morant’s custom-made shoes, which are nothing short of lavish. The shoes feature a diamond-studded logo and the caption was, “Tag a friend who’d wear the Ja 1’s! 🏀💎 We collaborated with @nike to create this one of a kind piece and box for @jamorant! @nikebasketball”.As expected, fans had plenty to say about the extravagant footwear.

The star sensation of the Memphis Grizzlies has recently become embroiled in a social media storm. Icebox recently shared an Instagram post in collaboration with Morant showcasing his new custom-made shoes and also a symbolic pendant bearing Morant’s logo, both embellished with diamonds. While the shoes have undoubtedly caught the attention of many fans, some have not been as impressed. In fact, they have taken to social media to criticize Morant’s flashy new footwear.

While some fans simply considered the shoes to be a bit extravagant, others went as far as to make sarcastic comments about Morant himself, with one person even stating, “No one likes Ja anymore.” A few fans even called Morant’s diamond encrusted logo a knock-off of the Kobe Bryant logo. Ja Morant has been criticized by Kobe fans on a number of occasions before, one of them being when he was compared with The Black Mamba. Another instance was when his signature Nike logo was perceived by many to share a resemblance with Kobe Bryant’s Nike logo.

This is not the first time Morant has faced criticism from fans. Earlier, he was accused of copying Kobe Bryant’s famous Nike logo in his own signature Nike brand, which also caused a stir among fans. Even on his latest post sharing the picture of the icebox diamond shoes, fans commented things like, “The fact they just flipped the mamba sign upside down is making me mad”. Around December 2022, Bryant fans criticised Morant on making his signature Nike logo “identical” to Kobe Bryant’s. People shared posts and tweeted stuff like “What’s that Kobe’s logo upside down? 😂” and “He think he kobe”.
