Ja Morant, one of the best players in the league currently, has landed himself in some deep trouble. A few weeks ago, Morant seemingly displayed a gun in an intoxicated state on Instagram. This incident took place in a night club in Denver. Naturally, this led to a huge uproar from fans and experts. Following this update, Morant was suspended by the Memphis Grizzlies and is still not eligible to return. Moreover, it seems Morant’s suspension is not the measure that is being taken into consideration.
In a recent report by The Athletic, Morant’s suspension and his actions prior to it were discussed. Interestingly, the report revealed a new team policy taken up by the Grizzlies which prevents any further violation by a player.

Ja Morant suspension forces team to take tough calls
Two-time NBA All-Star Ja Morant was on Cloud Nine prior to the 2022-23 NBA season. The Grizzlies were coming off a successful 2021-22 season led by Morant. However, it has all gone downhill for the 2021 Most Improved Player.
Morant was suspended for eight games recently by the NBA just prior to an important stretch of games for his team. Moreover, it seems there is no timeline for his return. He recently spoke out for the first time following his suspension.

Suspending Morant is just one of the decisions taken by the team and the association. It seems the Grizzlies are refraining from spending time in cities like Miami in order to keep a check on their players.
According to the report by The Athletic, “There have even been travel measures taken to curtail nightlife habits this season, with the Grizzlies leaving more road cities (especially the glitzier ones, like Miami) immediately after the game instead of staying overnight. Additional accountability measures may follow.”
Despite being 3rd in the Western Conference, the Grizzlies have a terrible away record. Their new policy might work wonders for the team as they look to secure a playoff berth.
Morant’s activities before the All-Star game were questionable
Morant took the league by storm during the 2021-22 NBA season. Thanks to his brilliant performances, he was selected to be a part of the All-Star weekend in Cleveland.
Prior to the extravaganza, the 2020 Rookie of the Year posted a video of himself in a heavily intoxicated state. He was accompanied by some of his family members. Moreover, he seemingly used empty bottles as a faux gun during the entire incident. The Grizzlies star had an underwhelming All-Star outing and his activities might have played a role in his performance.
