Russell Westbrook broke the internet with his game-tying 3-pointer. On Friday night, the Los Angeles Lakers visited the Toronto Raptors. As we know, the Lakers have been stuck in one place with no apparent surge to perform with consistency. They have been 9th seed for a good few months now, and this has been an underwhelming season in all aspects. However, they have seen few signs of light and the game against the Raptors was one of them.

The Lakers were decent since the start of the game itself. Unlike the last few matches where they would go 15-20 points behind in the first quarter itself, they started the game well. They finished 3 quarters in the lead. However, the Raptors surged through and gathered the lead, with just seconds remaining on the clock and ball in their possession. Incidentally, they looked set to play the remaining seconds out, but the story was far from over. In the dying seconds, Russell Westbrook miraculously stole the ball and scored a three pointer to tie the game.

Drake is all of us after the Russell Westbrook 3-pointer

Unsurprisingly, famous musician and rapper Drake was in attendance during the game. Naturally, he could not control his excitement like many others when Russ snatched the ball off Raptors’ Scottie Barnes and moved his way through to the three-point arc scoring a jumper tying the game 116-116. Drake’s reaction simply sums up the moment Russ gave us.

This was an important game from Russell Westbrook’s perspective and the Lakers. As the Lakers desperately needed a win in the bag. Subsequently, Russ needed to answer the recent unfair insults from the haters. Which he did, and the fans loved to see Russ playing the way we all often expect him to play and loved that they had another meme to have fun with.

The Lakers must use this win as the boost for the remaining season. As expected, LeBron James is in high spirits. He is close to being the 2nd most points scorer in NBA history, and he is highly motivated. Hopefully, this was the boost Russ needed to break out of the rut. Now, the Lakers need to capitalize on the momentum and surge towards a commanding end to the regular season.
