Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union have emerged as an example of redefined parenthood in the American diaspora. The power couple has always voiced out several social issues and stood up for their children in every situation, especially for their daughter, Zaya. Notably, the couple embraced her sexual orientation with both hands. Meanwhile, the Wade family celebrated their daughter’s big day on Monday, weeks after opening up about a shocking family decision to the media. 

Wade’s daughter came out as transgender in 2020 at the age of 12, along with her parents. Considering the stigma around the queer community, the couple sent a powerful message to the public by standing with Zaya. Since then, she has been making waves in the fashion industry, as she recently debuted as a runway model.

Zaya Wade celebrated her 16th birthday on Monday alongside her parents. The power couple took to their social media and uploaded pictures from the big day along with some old photographs. Wade wrote, “6Teen,” on his Instagram caption and shared several pictures of Zaya. Moreover, one of the pictures had his daughter’s childhood picture with a Captain America costume. 

Similarly, Gabrielle Union also shared several pictures of her daughter from her gallery. However, a particular video clip stood out of the lot. In the video, the couple cheered out loud in an empty corridor as Zaya imitated runway models.
