Moreover, one more thing that the Lakers fans might not like is the potential future of Damian Lillard.

Dame has never considered ‘running from the grind’. This was a phrase he once used while addressing the rumors of him moving away. He has always expressed that he is focused on playing for the Trail Blazers. He has stayed there for 10 seasons now and he plans to stay there. In his first interview after an abdominal surgery which kept him on the sidelines this season, he said that he wanted to aim for an MVP and his best is yet to come.

Damian Lillard addresses the crowd and assures for a better next season

Dame has addressed the fans after a poor season for the Portland Trail Blazers ended. He could play very little part in the season because of his injuries and abdominal surgery. He played only 29 games and the Portland Trail Blazers without him ended the season on 13th seed in the western conference.

Dame also said, A tough season, a lot of adversity this year. A lot of things came up that we didn’t expect. But I want you to know one thing: this will not continue. Next year we’re gonna be back better than before. —- It seems like after I announced that I was having surgery, people were like, ‘Oh, he’s 31 and having this done.’ Man, 31 is not old. They act like you’re old when we have guys around the league older than me that are still playing at a high level.”

Dame also mentioned how his game is not based on playing above the rim and he is a shooter. Dame asserted he knew his game and his better years were still ahead of him. He still aims to win the MVP.

Dame’s loyalty to the Trail Blazers seems unwavering. Unless the Blazers let Dame go, everything suggests he might stay in Portland next season as well. Many teams would have benefited from a player like Damian Lillard. However, the team that would be the saddest with Dame’s comments on his future might just be the Lakers. After an abysmal season, the Lakers would have loved someone of Dame’s talent and drive for the game on their roster.
