Rapper DaBaby confident of LaMelo Ball staying with the Hornets

LaMelo Ball has truly stood out as one of the best players in the draft class. While the likes of Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton have shown immense promise in the Timberwolves and the Kings, Ball is must-see TV.

The Hornets’ rookie who has already won the ROTY trophy recently made an appearance at the ESPYs. Honouring the best of the best, Ball yet again added a trophy in his ever-increasing silverware cabinet as he won the Best Breakthrough Athlete at the 2021.

Before the event though, longtime Hornets fan and rapper DaBaby was spotted with the 19-year-old. While Ball was signing a jersey, DaBaby said that he was confident that LaMelo would stay with the Hornets for a long time. The 29-year-old rapper said, “Bro ain’t ever leaving, I just talked to him, he fin’ sign up for 20 years.”

Averaging 15.7 points, 6.1 assists and 5.9 rebounds per game, LaMelo has shown incredible upside for the Hornets. With his passing and his ability to drive to the basket, LaMelo has been menacing for other team’s defenses.

With his incredible wingspan, the 19-year-old is also showing his skills as a defender as well. His numbers also shot up as a starter for the Hornets as he averaged 18.1 points, 6.2 assists and 5.9 rebounds per game.

Given that he is playing for a team like the Hornets, Ball will be a mainstay for Charlotte’s starting lineup next season. Can the ROTY recipient step up for the team and lead them to a post-season run?
