The NBA finals are always an enthralling experience. As the biggest stage of the entire season, it often brings out the best in the game. Likewise, Game 1 of the NBA finals was one that had everyone on the edge of their seats. Both teams looked solid in the first half. However, the second half was a roller coaster ride. At the end of the day, the Boston Celtics came out on top after a mammoth comeback in the final quarter. Playing his first finals Al Horford put up a masterful display. Horford came into the league back in 2007 with the 3rd overall pick. Playing for the Hawks, he made an early impression as a skilled big man in the league. But as the game progressed, Horford also had to adapt to the changes. He developed a three-point shot which totally changed his value as a player. He became a great floor spacer who can score from both inside and outside. In addition, his shot-blocking has always been among the best.

The Celtics looked to be down and out after the third quarter. A classic run by the Warriors saw them cruise to an easy win. However, the Celtics and Horford did not want to follow the script. Pulling off a near-impossible comeback on the road, Boston won the game 120-108. Allowing the Warriors to score just 16 points, the Celtics picked things up in a matter of minutes. However, it wasn’t their top scorer, Jayson Tatum, who got the job done.

When the Celtics needed big shots, it was Horford who took it upon himself to deliver. Hitting a barrage of buckets in the fourth, Horford fired the Celtics ahead in no time. The Warriors were left stunned as their fans couldn’t believe their eyes. However, Horford quickly became a hero as fans worshipped him on Twitter.

Checking into his first-ever finals game, the 36-year-old NBA veteran put up a team-high 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. However, his impact came when Boston most needed it. He hit the three to take the lead and followed it up with 5 more points. Horford was feeling himself in the big moments as he impressed the entire NBA fanbase with his majestic performance.
