The Memphis Grizzlies (26-13) won against the Utah Jazz (20-23), 123-118 tonight at the FedEx Forum. The Grizzlies extended their win streak to six, even without Ja Morant playing. But the night didn’t come without its share of blows. The moment instantly became a meme-worthy episode for one 30-year-old Jazz player. The NBA world was quick to agree that he was the embodiment of “all barks, no bite“.

What happened during Grizzlies vs Jazz?

During the third quarter of the game, Desmond Bane caught the ball and tried to pass it to his teammate. However, Jordan Clarkson had different plans. He hit Bane across the head and instinctually got into a fight stance. The NBA Twitter was flooded with past photos of Clarkson, always ready to fight.

Jaren Jackson Jr came to defend Bane, but Clarkson seemed ever-ready for a heated confrontation. It was eventually ruled as a flagrant 2 foul and an ejection and announced Clarkson’s exit. He had to be pulled away by an official.

While some players resort to violence on the court to have the upper hand, it appears that Morant has cultivated a bag of tricks. Sports Illustrated featured him last year, and they too noted this. They wrote, “Today, no player on Earth better concretizes the idea that basketball peaks when it leans into improvisation; Morant, at 6′ 3″, 174 pounds, warps the floor by exploring outlandish angles and ungodly ball fakes that precede an indelible package of finishing moves.”
