Brittney Griner has been detained in Russia for more than five months now. Griner used to visit Russia to play during the WNBA off-seasons. The airport police caught her in Russia on the charge of carrying hash oil and smuggling drugs into the country.

Recently, the court found the Phoenix Mercury star guilty of charges and handed her a nine-year prison time statement. Not very surprisingly, the whole basketball community has stood alongside her to extend their support support.

Like many other celebrities and known figures, Rex Chapman, the former NBA star, gave his opinion on the situation.

A policy or freedom for Brittney Griner?

Rex Chapman is one person with bold views. He isn’t fearful of taking up challenges and voicing what he feels. Like his 39-point game against Michael Jordan himself, Rex doesn’t fear challenges.

His trash-talking with MJ throughout the game, scoring over him, indeed tells us about his bold attitude. With the Brittney Griner incident gaining fuel, he raised his voice against the issue.

Rex took to Twitter on August 9th to voice his opinion on the case. He wrote, “America First is a lie told by people who hate their fellow Americans and want them to suffer.”?

Earlier, in the same Tweet thread, he also wrote, “Shocked to learn that all the people who wanted Brittney Griner to die in a Russian prison are suddenly so lax about breaking the law. Almost like they?re racist disingenuous scumbags.”

Brittney Griner was last spotted in Russia while she was going for her trial against the drug charges. Post her spotting, her fans and supporters are more worried about her than ever. In her recent letter to the President of the United States, she wrote, ?I?m terrified I might be here forever.??
