The Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic has had an impressive season so far with multiple dominant performances on the hardwood. Doncic secured several accolades this season including his record-breaking triple-double 60-21-10. It is safe to say that the Slovenian star has singlehandedly shouldered the Dallas team’s scoring responsibilities with his consistent high-scoring games. However, he sustained an injury during Thursday night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, after sustaining yet another fall this season.

The All-Star is the face of the Mavericks’ offense. In fact, he has scored 1569 points so far averaging 33.4 points per game. Moreover, he dropped his fourth 50+ points games this season. However, the Slovenian star’s recent injury during the Pelicans game could be expensive for the Mavs side. Moreover, the 23-year-old star had several scary falls throughout the season, especially the one over the side-court spectators. 

Luka Doncic undergoes yet another scary fall

During the third quarter of Thursday night’s game, Luka Doncic fell on his ankle attempting a dunk. Doncic ran down the lane against three Pelicans defenders and had an awkward fall after colliding with Pelicans’ Jonas Valanciunas. After the fall, he held on to his right ankle and seemed visibly in pain. Even though the Mavs star continued to play following the impact, he left the court after a few moments due to discomfort. However, the Mavs management later revealed that Doncic has sustained a right heel contusion and wouldn’t return for the fourth quarter.

Despite Doncic’s absence, the Mavs sealed a comfortable victory 111-106 over New Orleans. The star guard led the scoring board with 31 points despite playing only for 23 minutes. Several fans reacted to the video clip of the fall that surfaced on Twitter. The Mavericks are well and truly in the Playoffs race as they are currently in the 4th seed of the Western Conference with a 28-25 record. However, their superstar centerpiece’s multiple falls in recent times have increased the worries of fans.

Doncic somersaults over the fans

This isn’t the first fall for the Slovenian star this season. During a recent game, Doncic had a massive fall over the side-court fans in an attempt to catch the loose ball. Doncic somersaulted over the first-row fans and had an awful fall in front of the second-row fans. Eventually, he got up and resumed his action after briefly enquiring about the safety of the fans.
