Ever since the last buzzer of the NCAA women’s championship final, the hoops community witnessed several controversies surrounding the game. The Iowa Hawkeyes’ rising star Caitlin Clark arguably emerged as the find of the season and impressed the fans despite losing the title. FLOTUS Jill Biden, who was one among her fans, caught flak for her pitch inviting the runners-up to the White House along with the National champions. Following her statement, multiple debates arose out of it, specifically by LSU’s Angel Reese. However, Clark provided a stern perspective on the issue.

The Hawkeyes took on the LSU Tigers in the Sunday night National Championship game. While a majority of the fans expected Clark to take her side across the finish line comfortably, things went sideways. Even though she dropped 30 points, it wasn’t enough to surpass the Tigers. Moreover, fans debated over several controversial calls made by the referees in the final, especially the debatable tech on Clark in the third quarter.

After the dramatic finish to the final, the US first lady congratulated the Tigers and had a special message for the Hawkeyes. She said, “You know, I’m going to tell Joe I think Iowa should come too, because they played such a good game.” However, several Tigers fans didn’t receive her statement well. The Tigers’ Angel Reese even ridiculed Biden’s statement via Twitter. She referred to the FLOTUS’ statement as “A JOKE.”

However, Clark broke her silence on the issue with her recent video call interview on ESPN. When the interviewer asked Clark about her stance on the runners-up invite, she said, “I don’t think runner-ups usually go to the White House. I think LSU should, you know, enjoy that moment for them.”

However, Clark ensured that she would love to go to the White House on different terms but not as runners-up. This just goes to show Clark’s winning mentality. Despite the stardom, she understands tradition and the LSU Tigers deserve to visit the White House alone.

The fans noticed Angel Reese showing hand gestures to Clark in the last moments of the game and her tweet to disrespect the Hawkeyes. These two instances opened up doors for multiple analogies on the beef. However, Clark ensured to come back stronger in her next two years with the Iowa team.
