The Miami Heat?s 2022-23 season is historic. They entered as the 8th seed after losing to the Hawks in the play-in game. From there on, they first ousted the number one-seeded Milwaukee Bucks. Then they beat a rugged New York Knicks in six games. From there on, they took a 3-0 lead against the 2nd-seeded Boston Celtics in The Conference Finals. And after coughing up 3 games, they won the series-clinching game. But, they lost to the Denver Nuggets in just five games during the Finals.

Can Damian Lillard and Jimmy Butler complement each other?

The Miami Heat is heavily interested in the Portland Trail Blazers? electric Point Guard. They lacked a continuous flow of points from their Point Guard with Lowry?s game receding.

Apart from that, the Heat overall relied more on defense than seeking a shooting galore, playing at a slow pace. They can benefit from an elite shooter like Lillard because he can magnetize the entire defense. Lillard can also generate more open lanes for Butler and others in both open and half-court situations.

17-Year veteran Guard, Kyle Lowry, was a shadow of himself during last season. He had his moments, but he wasn?t the answer to Jamal Murray in the Finals.

Therefore, it is not surprising that the Miami Heat is planning to waive or trade the gutsy guard. Letting him go would mean a $29 million dollars relief. Getting his contract off the books will also help in getting under the luxury tax. This can open up the cap space to sign the elite sharpshooter Lillard, whose contract is around $44 million per year.

The move to waive or trade Lowry is a crucial step in getting close to the high-profile scorer.?For Lillard, this move would make sense because he has played for bottom-ten defenses for most of his career. Heat?s defense carried them to the Finals and they have veterans to handle that end.

This will ease off both defensive pressure and help in conserve energy for some high-octane offense. Lillard hasn?t been a major part of the Playoffs scene for years now and winning has to be on the agenda now.?
