NBA veteran lashes into the Ja Morant situation

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant didn’t have the best of seasons. Although he was his usual self on the court, his off-court issues brought in a lot of hate and flak. It was reported that Morant had once indulged in violence with a 17-year-old during a pickup basketball game.

Moreover, he also flashed a gun while in a Denver nightclub. This is not all. The two-time NBA All-Star also apparently flashed a gun during an Instagram live session which urged the association to ban him for eight games for ‘detrimental conduct’.

Gilbert Arenas is not the biggest fan of Morant’s actions. Although he believes the basketball court incident is still understandable because it happened in the heat of the moment, the 2003 Most Improved Player is quite surprised by Morant’s antics in the nightclub.

“You are in the middle of enjoying a lap dance, probably drinking, a** and t**ies everwhere, you’re on social media, what makes you think to grab the gun to show it? I’m looking through the feed like who the fk are you? I’m trying to figure out whats the point? What’s the point? You are in the middle of a fun activity, you got your shirt off, you are sweating, f**ing money everywhere”, said Arenas.

With the entirety of the NBA world talking about Ja Morant, Adam Silver was not one to keep quiet. It was quite evident that the commissioner was both saddened and angry over the whole saga.

The potential for other young people to emulate Ja’s conduct is particularly concerning. Under these circumstances, we believe a suspension of 25 games is appropriate and makes clear that engaging in reckless and irresponsible behavior with guns will not be tolerated”, said Silver.

Additionally, the commissioner also asserted that he has no idea what will it take to mend Morant’s behavior. Despite all the suspensions and warnings earlier this year, he didn’t seem to change.
