With the trade window in full force, NBA fans are taking to social media and demanding to see their favorite stars be traded. Recently, Rudy Gobert, who is a multiple Defensive Player of the Year winner, was traded by the Utah Jazz to the Minnesota Timberwolves. NBA Twitter fans used the opportunity to ridicule Gobert’s departure as well.

In a recent tweet, Jazz player Donovan Mitchell was wearing a Brooklyn Cyclones baseball Jersey. He was prepping to give the honorary first pitch, as many athletes from other sports often do. New York fans jumped at the opportunity to call for a trade to the Knicks.

Since Kemba Walker’s poor stint, the Knicks have been looking for some star depth at the two-guard position. Jazz may just be interested in entering a rebuild and letting Donovan walk away for some draft picks and assets. 

The tweet garnered a lot of traction on social media. ‘Knicks Videos’ Twitter handle posted the video of the pitch, and it got a few thousand likes and re-tweets. Fans were all over the news and shared their two cents on the star.

Moreover, Mitchell is also a New York native and was a Knicks fan growing up. Donovan has made the playoffs with the Jazz almost every season; however, he has never made it past the second round.

In addition, New York Fans were cheering and rooting for the former all-star to come to the New York Knicks, who are in desperate need of a change after a disappointing outing in the 2022 season.

Essentially, Utah received 5 picks for Gobert from the Timberwolves. Further, it appears that they are seeking an insane 8 picks for Mitchell, which is too steep, even for a star like Mitchell.

Jalen Brunson and Mitchell Robinson both received extensions and contracts from New York. Moreover, the Knicks are in a win-now situation with Julius Randle and RJ Barrett, and Derrick Rose. Further, moving for Mitchell seems like the most ideal step to contend with.

New York’s future draft equity and Immanuel Quickley and Obi Toppin will be part of any deal pitching Donovan Mitchell. 

It is expected of the Knicks to leave out the talents of Barrett from the deal. Utah is unwilling to take any potentially big contracts and is only seeking high draft capital like Oklahoma City and Houston Rockets possess.

The Jazz would have signed Barrett to a max-level contract as his rookie contract approaches its ending. Regardless, all the fans are thrilled to have Donovan show interest in the Knicks.
