Among others, the Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the biggest disappointments of the 2021-22 NBA season. Giving their fans massive hopes before the commencement of the campaign, things haven’t gone quite to plan. Sure, LeBron James has shone through and through. However, a combination of the unfortunate injuries, especially to mainstay Anthony Davis, combined with on-court mishaps, has resulted in devastation. But now, 29-year-old Davis has hit back at all the criticism he has received.
The moment you realise that Anthony Davis and LeBron James have played well under 30 games together this year, it instantly spells disaster. Having already missed out on several encounters earlier, AD had been out since February due to a foot injury.

Just as he geared up for his anticipated return, 37-year-old LeBron faced an injury of his own. Yet, the duo got back on court, but things haven’t gone to plan for the Lakers thus far. Apart from the struggles he is facing with the franchise, the constant hate he receives has now forced Davis to reach his boiling point.

Ahead of a closely contested outing, it was assumed that the Lakers trio of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook would wreak havoc in the league. Contrarily, Frank Vogel’s men find themselves toiling to secure a play-in spot.
And having just played around 39 games, AD has been hit with loads of criticism. After months of ignoring it however, the 8-time All-Star has now retaliated in brutal fashion.

“When I play, it’s a problem. It’s a problem when I don’t play,” claimed a frustrated Davis. “At the end of the day, I’ve got to do what’s best for me and how my body feels. And we go from there.”
“I’m not worried about who’s saying what or who thinks this about me because none of them have stepped on the floor and played. And the ones that did play, they should understand.” He continued, “These aren’t little ticky-tack injuries.”
