The Los Angeles Lakers have been the talk of the town, but for all the wrong reasons. The team’s struggles from last season has persisted after the season start. With gaping holes in all aspects of the game, the Lakers have found themselves at the bottom of the NBA. Despite a humiliating record, Lakers star Anthony Davis believes in his team’s explosive ability and untapped potential. However, fans seem to have not taken his words well.

Anthony Davis recently made some head-scratching comments on the performance of his team. Amidst all the backlash and negativity surrounding the Lakers and their failures this season, Davis’s fairly optimistic remarks have come off as blasphemous for many NBA fans.
Despite a losing record, Anthony Davis has high hopes for the team
Before their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers (7-1), Anthony Davis made a bizarre admission on the worth of the his team. Per ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin, Anthony Davis was asked how other teams see the Lakers this season.
Anthony Davis:
"We’re not the team that our record shows. But any given night our team can play very well and explode… I know teams fear us, for sure."

Davis responded, “We’re not the team that our record shows. But any given night our team can play very well and explode … I know teams fear us, for sure.” Judging from his words, the All-star forward seems to have strong faith in the squad despite their recent misadventures.
Since the disappointing loss on opening night to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, the Lakers, in two weeks of regular season action, have not added a lot of wins to their record. With an egregious record of 2-6, they currently stand among the worst teams in the Western Conference as the 14th seed. Following their disappointing performance so far, the LA team has received a lot of backlash from the NBA world and their own fans.
The frustrated and puzzled fans responded with the same passion when Davis made those comments. Here are some of the fan reactions on Twitter:
He didn’t really say that did he?
