“Anything but Great”: Despite Magic Johnson’s Kind Words, NBA Stars Catch Brutal Slack

Former Lakers legend Magic Johnson was one among various stars who were present court side at the match-up between the Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons. Bulls players DeMar DeRozan, Lonzo Ball, and Alex Caruso were seemingly pleased to meet the Hall of Famer. Among the stars, former Chicago Bulls center, Joakim Noah, was also in attendance to watch the match-up.

The 12-time All-Star showed love, mentioning all those who were present, in his recent tweet. Moreover, Magic did not forget to mention former NFL player and sportscaster Ahmad Rashad. Johnson showered the players with his kindness. However, fans were not happy with the way he credited Joakim Noah in his tweet.

Magic tweeted “I had the chance to see former Bulls and Knicks great Joakim Noah” along with a picture of him and the 6′ 11 center. Fans were in denial as they did not appreciate him crediting Noah’s disastrous career with the New York Knicks

Fans trolled the former Bulls star in the comments section of Magic’s tweet. Here are some of the fans’ reactions on Twitter:

The former DPOY had his worst run with the New York Knicks. In the 2015-16 season, Noah suffered a terrible shoulder injury limiting him to just 29 games in the season. At the same time, Noah was given a massive 4-year, $72 million contract by the Knicks, which the center happily signed.

Former Knicks President and veteran Coach Phil Jackson did not believe the signing to be poor. However, Knicks fans did not like the fact that an injured player was given such a big contract for averaging 4.2 points the previous season. Fans’ nightmare turned out to become true as Noah suffered another Knee injury along with a 20-game suspension for violating the anti-drug policy. Noah played 46 games in his first season with the Knicks while he averaged a measly 5.0 points.

After a huge gap leaving the Knicks, Noah joined the Los Angeles Clippers in 2020. Even after continuous efforts to come back to prime, Noah kept struggling. He eventually announced his retirement in March 2021.

Magic meets future NBA prospect Victor Wembanyama

Magic took out time to show love towards the possible future star of the NBA, Victor Wembanyama. The 6’9 guard tweeted a pic with the 7’2 center and added kind words for the youngster. Magic tweeted “I had the chance to meet and talk to the best player in the world and this year’s number one pick in the NBA draft Victor Wembanyama!”
