The Denver Nuggets are just one win away from their first-ever NBA title! From facing a first-round exit last season, the Nuggets have taken a massive leap this year. Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray have shown their excellence throughout the postseason. A few X-Factors have also helped the Nuggets in their quest for the Larry O’Brien trophy. The ‘role players’ balled out today against the Miami Heat as Jimmy Butler and Co. fell prey to their dominance. Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson took the time to credit these stars. However, fans couldn’t help but notice that the 5x NBA champion had not mentioned the “head of the snake“, as he was labeled by a 9x NBA champion.

A few days back, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr pulled out the “head of the snake” analogy to credit the Nuggets star, Jamal Murray. Overlooking this perspective, Magic decided to give other Nuggets players their flowers.

Who are the “role players” that received high appreciation from Magic Johnson?

The Denver Nuggets are on a historic run this season. Jokic and Murray had a 20-point triple-double each in Game 3, to win by a huge margin as the Miami Heat looked helpless. Well, nothing was different in Game 4 either. However, this time a few other Nuggets stars displayed efficiency.

The Nuggets were forced to bench Jokic after his fifth foul at the start of the fourth quarter. The Heat were down by nearly 10 points at the time. Butler and Co. had a perfect chance to change things around. However, the Nuggets’ role players did not allow that.

Aaron Gordon and Bruce Brown were on one today. Gordon has shown his power inside the paint throughout the series. It takes a lot to push Bam Adebayo for a bucket. However, Gordon made it look very easy today. In addition, 26-year-old Bruce Brown sealed the game late in the fourth quarter with a fancy layup and a bunch of tough threes to bag Game 4.

Magic Johnson made sure he gave these two their flowers. The NBA legend tweeted, “The Denver Nuggets couldn’t be stopped tonight! Role players Aaron Gordon (27 points) and Bruce Brown (21 points off the bench) led the Nuggets along with their outstanding team defense”

However, Johnson failed to mention either Jokic or Murray in his tweet. While he might have just taken this chance to praise the role players of Denver, some people were surprised to see this. Especially considering the fact that Steve Kerr recently called Murray the “head of the snake“.

9x NBA champion and Golden State Warriors Head coach Steve Kerr shared his take on the Denver Nuggets this season on Draymond Green’s podcast a few days back. The 57-year-old revealed that he believed Jokic was not the head of the snake, but Jamal Murray

Murray is one of the major reasons the Nuggets have come this far. He was the missing piece last year as well. Moreover, Kerr believes Murray is the guy that the Heat must stop and not Jokic. However, Johnson went on to ignore both Jokic and Murray today to give Gordon and Brown major credits.
