The date for Kyrie to decide if he wants to stay with the Nets or not is coming closer. There is no clarity on what the former champion has in mind. Although one thing is clear; the Nets are still not willing to offer him a max contract. On the other hand, the Lakers have been saying that they plan to keep Russell Westbrook, yet they are constantly building deals around him.

On Monday, NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski revealed the Lakers offered a sign-and-trade deal for Westbrook and Kyrie. As per reports, Brooklyn Nets have rejected the deal and are waiting for Kyrie to make a decision.

There are multiple reasons that have made LeBron-Kyrie and Durant-Westbrook very unlikely. Westbrook’s last season has been incredibly poor. There are only a few franchises who would still be interested in him after those stats. It would be a loose deal for the Nets if they were to replace Kyrie with Westbrook.

The max extension contract has kind of become a deal breaker here, and he believes that he can get better offers in the free agent market.

The chances of the Lakers acquiring Kyrie Irving from a free agent market are also quite less considering the cap space available. Kevin Durant’s decision to stay with Nets is also not clear, and he has been waiting for Kyrie to take a decision. LeBron has been in constant support of Westbrook. Yet he has not made comments about the management trying to trade him.
