The Ben Simmons saga was the biggest talking point of last summer. Simmons expressed his desire to leave the Philadelphia 76ers during the off-season. However, due to the Sixers not being satisfied with the offers from other teams, Simmons and the franchise engaged in a long standoff. He has missed several training sessions and his fines have crossed $19 million. Moreover, his camp has made their intentions clear that they don’t care about the money.
The trade deadline is set to end on February 10, but the Sixers are yet to reach an agreement with any team over the 25-year-old Australian. The star guard did return to training at the beginning of the season but refused to participate in some drills. The Sixers then suspended him for a game.

Now, Simmons is the highest-fined player in NBA history. According to a report from ESPN, the Sixers have fined him more than $19 million. He could lose another 12 by the end of the season. Simmons’ camp, however, made it clear that they do not care about the money lost.

Ben Simmons’ camp reveals that they don’t care about the fines imposed by the Sixers
ESPN recently reported that Simmons has already lost around $19 million in fines and that could extend to $31 million by the end of the season. A source close to Simmons said that fines aren’t a problem for him and the 25-year-old wants a fresh start away from the Sixers.
“We don’t give a f*ck about the money,” one source close to Simmons told ESPN.
“That’s not what this is. It’s hard for people to understand. But if you believe in what you’re doing and that this is not the right situation for you, and you’re trying to get to a better place, the money doesn’t matter. Obviously, it’s a financial hit. But you adjust.”

This statement from Simmons’ camp is disrespectful to the fans, who stuck alongside him through thick and thin. The Ben Simmons and Philadelphia 76ers standoff has been going on for a long time. The Sixer tried to find ways to trade him, but they’re adamant that they want a quality player in exchange for the 25-year-old.

But the standoff has been harming both the player and the franchise. The Sixers have a top roster at their helm with Joel Embiid in the MVP race. With Ben Simmons, they could have had a good shot at the championship. However, it is now wasting one of the best years of Joel Embiid’s peak.
