For the last few years, the league has been a tricky place for Ben Simmons. Apart from injuries and personal issues, the NBA Star bared the burnt of fans for his poor on-court performances. His image in the league took a deep dive after the debacle with the Philadelphia 76ers. As reports state, Simmons looks overwhelmed on the court and confidence is missing. Experts have pondered upon where it all went sideways for Simmons but have failed to meet one conclusion. As these discussions continue, a story from his time with the 76ers made rounds online, leaving the NBA Community in complete mayhem.

In his last season with the 76ers, Simmons had an average of 14.3 points and 3 free throws per game. Considering his slump with the free throws, the Washington Wizard executed the ‘Hack-a-Ben’ strategy in one game. As revealed by an anonymous coach, this strategy revolved around fouling and sending Simmons to the free-throw line. The coach stated that Scott Brooks started the process first, which resulted in success for the Wizards. They were bagging points and hampering Philly’s momentum. Watching this transpire, Wizards’ star Bradley Beal followed in the footsteps of his then-teammate. This left Ben Simmons furious.

Supposedly, the conversation led to Simmons making a bold claim. He said, “I’m going to step up here and knock these two down. Five thousand dollars says I will.” A confident Beal decided to raise the amount and make the bet worth 20 thousand dollars.

However, Simmons missed the free throw. While narrating the story, the coach said, “And then he went up and bricked one. I don’t think he said another word.” Simmons ended up losing the bet and the Hack-a-Ben strategy was highly successful in that game. As this story made rounds online, fans were left in fits of laughter.
