Vanessa Bryant and her children have been very close with the Gasol family since Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant run riots around teams in the NBA. Pau Gasol won the NBA championship two times with the legendary Kobe in successive seasons. The relationship between the two got stronger over time. Hence, their families grew closer to each other. The untimely death of Kobe and his daughter Gianna Bryant in 2020 ripped the hearts of NBA fans to shreds. Understandably, the families and teammates were devastated.
Gasol decided to pay tribute to the death of the legendary Lakers no. 24 and his daughter. In 2021, Gasol named his daughter after Gianna Bryant and made Vanessa Bryant her godmother. Recently, the pictures of Elisabet Gianna Gasol with her godmother Vanessa have melted the hearts of NBA fans around the world.

Since the demise of the legendary Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and his family have kept close contact with the Bryant family. They met and hung out in August 2022, with Gasol sharing a picture of the same on Instagram. Vanessa Bryant seems to have a lot of support from friends and family. And has since reiterated that her husband and daughters give her the strength to move forward in life. Vanessa recently posted a picture with her godchild that could make Lakernation teary-eyed.
