Charles Barkley Details How Covering LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Others Made His Job the Best

Charles Barkley was one of the best players in the NBA during his time. ‘Chuck’ was a monster in his era, and he got to be part of the historic 1992 Olympic ‘Dream Team’. Barkley did almost everything in his career, being a multiple-time All-Star and Finals MVP. But he became even more famous in the second phase of his career as an NBA analyst.

Barkley loves being an analyst

In anticipation of the new ‘Inside Story‘ documentary, which gives an in-depth look at the ‘Inside the NBA’ show on TNT, Barkley spoke about why he loves his job so much. Chuck noted that he gets to cover the best players in the history of the sport on a nightly basis. Players like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant have made it very easy for him do his job, which he calls the best.

“I’ve seen the greatest basketball players in the world as a job. That’s why I call it the best job in the world. I was there the night LeBron James scored 30 straight points. I got to watch Kobe Bryant, one of the 10 greatest basketball players ever.”

Barkley added that as a retired player, he and several others are enthralled watching basketball games. Legends often converse with each other and ask whether the other saw the game. That is because former players know nothing else but their love for basketball. And it is in their constitution to watch and appreciate the game they love.

“It’s funny when you meet old basketball players, we all talk about ‘hey did you watch that game the other night? Yeah, I was watching that game!’. Because that’s all you’re going to do. It’s a part of your DNA, it’s a part of your life.”

Charles Barkley: All-Time Great

Barkley himself was one of the greatest players of his generation. He was a tremendous athlete and was considered one of the best players of his generation. In 1993, Barkley was the NBA MVP with the Phoenix Suns and pushed Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls to the limit in the NBA Finals.
