Michael Jordan leads the Chicago Bulls to their second three-peat

The Chicago Bulls of 1998 are considered one of the most legendary teams. And it is for a good reason. The team still had their core of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman intact. This core had led the Bulls to 5 NBA titles, and they were about to do it once again.

Interestingly enough, this happened to be one of the seasons when Jordan signed a huge contract with the team after being in low salaries for the entirety of his career.

Incidentally, this happened to be the season where Jordan posted the lowest numbers during the entirety of his career. He averaged 28.7 points, 3.5 assists, and 5.8 rebounds. Stats like these can only seem underwhelming when someone is of the stature of Michael Jordan.

The Bulls had an insane defensive rating of 99.8 thanks to the efforts of Jordan and Pippen. The duo got their ninth and seventh selection to the All-Defensive First Team, respectively.

Despite not being at his absolute best, Jordan turned up during the postseason. He clocked an average of 33.45 points during the 1997-98 postseason. Although Jordan and Pippen might take most of the credit, Dennis Rodman had his fair bit of contribution.

He had 15 rebounds per game during the 1997-98 season and he secured his seventh consecutive rebound title. He would join the likes of Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul Jabbar as one of the only eight players to average more than 14 rebounds in seven different seasons.

Fans react to the Bulls jacket pricing

While the Bulls team of 1997-98 might be one of the greatest teams ever, fans have not accepted the high price placed on the rare jacket. The Chicago Bulls 1998 ” REPEAT 3PEAT” Championship jacket has a price tag of an insane $5000 dollars.
