Stephen Curry bagged 50 points in the game against the Phoenix Suns. However, his efforts were in vain. The rest of the Warriors pack failed to make an impact. This resulted in the Suns defeating the Golden State Warriors by 11 points. Now, the Warriors have lost all of their eight away games. Following this, members of the NBA community were quick to bring out stats and compare this performance to that of the past. One particular stat which included the Chicago Bulls left the NBA world in shambles.
It was noted that the Warriors have the “longest road losing streak by a defending champion”. The last time a defending champion team lost a bunch of their away games was in 1998-99. The team was Chicago Bulls.

Coach Phil Jackson had left the Bulls. Their stars Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman had signed deals with the Houston Rockets and LA Lakers respectively. Six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan had announced his retirement.
In the process of rebuilding, the Bulls registered a record of losing 8 straight games while on the road. They failed to make it to the playoff that season, marking the end of their dominance in the 90s.

Fans were quick to state it was hard to ignore the similarity between the Warriors and the 1998-99 Bulls. However, the major difference is that the Warriors’ core group is still intact. Despite this, the only player with championship-like stats is two-time MVP, Stephen Curry. Players like Jordon Poole, Kevon Looney, and Andrew Wiggins have shown sparks of good play, but this hasn’t been consistent. Also, Klay Thompson is still looking for his rhythm.
Following the loss, head coach Steve Kerr compared the team’s performance to a Drew League team’s performance. He said, “We lack collective grip.” The Warriors have won 6 games and lost 9 in total. Fans are desperately praying for the Warriors to regroup and find their form back.
