Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner is making headlines around the world for unfortunate reasons. A few months ago, she was detained in Russia for carrying illegal substances.

Subsequently, her arrest started a long legal procedure. Recently, Griner pleaded guilty to all the charges which can put her in detention for a long time. This has been a major talking point in the world of basketball and beyond for quite some time now.

Stars like LeBron James have given their opinions and the latest celebrity to give their reaction to the situation is Billionaire Elon Musk. Musk took to Twitter to post a meme that scrutinizes the Government for its actions.

After a Russian court ruled against Brittney Griner, her situation has been a major talking point across the world. The United States Government recently revealed its plans to try and bring Griner back home.

According to multiple reports, Viktor Bout, an arms dealer, could be used in a prisoner exchange in order to bring Griner back to the United States.

However, this has invited backlash from all around. Elon Musk addressed the situation and also question the Government’s decision to exchange Griner. He wrote, “Maybe free some people in jail for weed here too?” along with a meme that he posted on Twitter.

Musk is not the only celebrity to give his thoughts regarding the controversial basketball player. But unlike Musk, LeBron James spoke out in support of Griner a few weeks ago.

During an episode of ‘The Shop’, LeBron talked about the situation. He said he wasn’t sure he would come back to the US if he was Griner. His words invited a lot of criticism from all around.

This forced the Los Angeles Lakers star to issue a clarification regarding his words on Twitter. LeBron wrote, “I was simply saying how she’s probably feeling emotionally along with so many other emotions, thoughts, etc inside that cage she’s been in for over 100+ days.

Although he issued a clarification, LeBron’s words on ‘The Shop’ is still used by fans around the world in order to criticize the 4 time NBA champion.
