In fact, they were handed their latest loss by the Miami Heat. However, the Michael Jordan-owned team has something to look forward to. One of their best players last season, LaMelo Ball, finally has played his first game this season.

The 21-year-old All-Star finally took to the court after missing out on action for 13 games following a left ankle sprain. With his return, the Hornets will certainly be looking to improve their performance.

LaMelo Ball makes a much-anticipated return to the court

The Charlotte Hornets, owned by Michael Jordan, boast of having some of the best young talents in the league. With a roster consisting of players like LaMelo Ball, Kelly Oubre Jr, and PJ Washington, the Hornets are certainly a force to reckon with. However, they haven’t had the best of starts to the season. One of the key factors behind their performances was the absence of Ball.

The 21-year-old finally made his return after missing 13 games but was still way off from being at his best. Taking on the Miami Heat, Ball scored just 15 points.

Moreover, he shot 35 percent from the field while converting one of his nine three-point attempts. The team lost 132-115 taking their record to 3-11 for the season.

It was unusual for Ball who has a record of being a good shooter. Last season, he shot 42.9 percent from the field while averaging 20.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 7.6 assists.

However, the flashy moves, the behind-the-back dimes, seem to be back with the budding star. In fact, he lit up the game with a buzzer-beater floater. Whether Ball brings the Hornets back to winning ways or not, he will surely spike the enthusiasm of the crowd.

Which players stepped up in the absence of Ball?

Replacing the best player in the squad is no easy feat. However, Kelly Oubre Jr and Terry Rozier have done a decent job in the absence of LaMelo. Oubre Jr. is averaging 18.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists this season. (Source: ESPN)

On the other hand, Rozier leads the team in points as he averages 21.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.6 assists despite only starting 7 games. PJ Washington and Gordon Hayward have also played their part and were a crucial part of the team in Ball’s absence.
